Ready for a Better Mississippi?

Posted 1/22/2020

Know someone under 40 who's ready for a better Mississippi?

Our sister organization, The Parents' Campaign Research and Education Fund, has just launched a terrific networking program for young, action-oriented Mississippians who want to be a new voice for a new Mississippi.

The Mississippi Collective will offer opportunities for like-minded peers to connect with one another and will provide no-cost advocacy training - and a wealth of information - designed to take Mississippi to the next level.

Like The Parents' Campaign, The Mississippi Collective will focus on public education, but with a new twist - bringing fresh, new voices to the table with a goal of transforming our state into the Mississippi young people want and deserve. Read more about the project.

Let's help spread the word: if you're under 40, a public school supporter, and ready for a better Mississippi, The Mississippi Collective needs you!

Follow them on Facebook and Twitter, share their posts, and encourage all the under-40s you know to sign up for notifications about opportunities to meet and strategize with their peers around the state: https://tpcref.nationbuilder.com/. It's fun, it's exciting, and it's happening now!

A Big Opportunity

Posted 12/2/19

You have the power to change the course of a child's life.

Time and again, your voice has made the difference, protecting our schools from profit-driven privatizers, enabling a good start for young children through state-funded pre-k, supporting teachers with better pay, and securing additional funding that provides advanced courses, improved technology, and stronger supports for struggling learners. What we have done together truly has been amazing.

We make a great team. The Parents' Campaign provides the research, data, and legislative legwork. You turn that knowledge into influence, sharing public education insights and information with legislators and holding them accountable for their votes.

Your advocacy work has been a game-changer. Can you also contribute financially to support public education advocacy statewide?

You succeeded in making the 2019 Election all about our teachers and public education. But well-funded lobbyists already are working to sway legislators' votes in ways that will hinder the progress of our children and our schools.

We stand ready to fight back, and that takes resources. Will you donate today to sustain the work of The Parents' Campaign into 2020 and beyond?

Our team has built an impressive strategy to strengthen our network in critical areas, to provide legislators and newly-elected leaders the support and encouragement they need to win the day for public education. Your donation of $10, $25, $50 or more will help us seal that deal.

Together, we are strong. Together, we have wrought change.

Now we are at a new crossroads. We have a golden opportunity to capitalize on our momentum and to change forever the path of public education in Mississippi. Will you help us? Your financial contribution could make the difference. Our children are counting on us, and together, we've got this!

Reserve a Speaker for Your Group

Looking for a speaker or panelist for your PTO or civic group? The Parents' Campaign would be happy to provide an informative presentation on public education issues in a format that suits your needs. Send your request, including event details (proposed date, time, type and length of program), to info@msparentscampaign.org. There is no cost for this service.

Ready to Learn

Ready for the best year yet!

Mississippi public school teachers are welcoming students back to class, excited, focused, and ready to "raise the bar!" Our amazing teachers and administrators have worked hard through the summer, preparing to lead our children through another great year of growing and learning.

Back to school msg

Local businesses and churches are stepping up, donating backpacks, supplies, and back-to-school treats. Whole communities are in the game, supporting our public schools and the nearly 500,000 students they serve!

A tip for parents getting ready for the new school year: these Mississippi Department of Education resources will give your students an extra edge as they reach for excellence (see grade-level guides, pre-k through 8th).

We are ALL in for our PUBLIC schools - where every child has a place and where Mississippi's future is bright! Wishing you a terrific school year.
